Originally not from a wine background, Mike studied Engineering before establishing his own company within the industry. A hostile takeover by British Gas led to the discovery that he could combine both his passions, business and wine!
​
Having purchased the Old Plot in 2010, Mike and Hilary have developed Greyfriars from a tiny 1 acre site into what it is today.

Hilary studied Natural Sciences at Pembroke College, Oxford and then went on to qualify as a Solicitor. Hilary left the law and took a Masters in Early Childhood Education before teaching primary children for several years.
Hilary started Greyfriars with Mike and now spends her time helping to develop the business as well as looking after their two children.
VINEYARD MANAGER

International rock star turned vineyard manager, Mike's brother-in-law, David spent the first 12 years of his career touring the globe in his own rock band, Seafood, releasing six albums! He then studied viticulture and winemaking at Plumpton College.
​
His aim today is to produce the best grapes possible for Greyfriars wine.

Aaron joined us in June 2018 and heads up our direct-to-consumer operations handling sales, marketing, PR, events, and the ever-growing area of wine tourism. When he’s not talking about (or drinking) wine he is usually helping make it as part of our small team that contributes to every aspect of the business.
ASSISTANT
VINEYARD MANAGER

Dominik joined the team in Januray 2019 and since then he has embraced the challenge of cool climate vine growing, becoming an integral member of the vineyard team. He is an agricultural graduate and gained his experience working at his family vineyard back home in Poland before travelling and working on various vineyards around Europe and Canada.
PRODUCTION MANAGER

Holly joined us towards the end of 2022 as a vineyard assistant, where her first job was getting stuck into pruning. She did her first harvest with us in 2023 and now manages tirage and dosage in the production room!

Peter has been with us since January 2022 as his first viticulture job following a career in London in shipping.

When James isn't treading the boards, he's extolling the virtues of our wines as one of our tour guides and events hosts. He previously was an events host for London's original stockist of exclusively English Wine - The Wine Pantry'.
